Many people who appreciate sad endings enjoy them because they aren’t as common and clichéd as the traditional happy ending. Still, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t great reasons for people to like happy endings either – they often genuinely care for the characters and want to see them happy. Then there are people who enjoy bittersweet or downright sad endings because they find them to be more realistic than happy endings. Because we are used to happy endings, we’ve come to expect them and are often surprised when a film or a book ends on a down note. Disney films always end with the couple living happily-ever-after, while even the majority of romantic-comedies end with the couple finally getting together.
Whether you like them or not, most people are accustomed to the happy ending. It’s a bittersweet finale one that makes me think about the art of the happy ending. At the end of the series, we find out that Yukari has married Hiroyuki, a classmate she had feelings for prior to meeting George, and they will be attending a show with costumes designed by George. She rushes to the storage room, finds all of the dresses George has designed, and breaks down crying. Yet one day Yukari receives a package, with the key to George’s storage room inside it. The two part, and without either of them needing to say so, they know that their relationship as come to an end. At the end of Paradise Kiss, George decides to go to Paris to try to become a haute couture fashion designer, while Yukari stays behind in Japan because her modelling career is beginning to take off.

But the strongest impression the series left on me is definitely its ending.
From George and Yukari’s glamorous-yet-thorny relationship, to fun characters like Miwako and Isabella who are more than what they seem, to the wonderful clothing we all wish we could wear in real life, Paradise Kiss is so detailed it feels like it’s own world. I’ve already praised Ai Yazawa quite a bit, but there are so many things to love about Paradise Kiss that it’s hard for me to choose what to talk about. It didn't touch me deeply but it was enjoyable.Ĩ-Overall : As a person who watched this film for itself not to compare it with the manga/anime, I believe that it was good enough to waste my time on it an acceptable film overall.It should go as no surprise that I think Paradise Kiss is an amazing series.

All I know that the film's ending was a fluffy ending.ħ-My impression : I never lost interest while watching this plus I appreciated the fashion-love combination. Other character were okay, no special feelings about them.Ĥ-Music : Kind of cool it's not a bad music.ĥ-Rewatch value : It's possible for some cases.Ħ-The ending : My friends who already watched the anime told me that the anime's ending was really bad. On the other hand, George's character was well done. The story was set in a good way because it was something different: I didn't watch many shows or films about fashion before so the general concept was appealing enough.ģ-Acting/Cast : I just like Kitagawa Keiko as an actress but I can't say the same thing about her character which seemed to have many flaws. Rewatch Value 6.0 1-The reason I watched this : I watched this film with couple of friends who already watched the anime.Ģ-Storyline/Plot : To start with, I never read the manga or watched the anime, so for someone like me everything was a first time. It will surely provide you with good humour and some cute romantic moments. Just grab a bowl of popcorn and watch it when you're bored. While it drags out longer than required, it is a relaxing movie. The film primarily focuses on fashion, so the clothes were great in this one. It has a couple of kissing scenes which were the best I have seen in anything Japanese so far.

Also, this movie lives upto its name 'Paradise Kiss'. The actors were good and I really liked the chemistry between the two leads.
I am not fond of anime humour getting injected in every Japanese film or drama, so this one was good for a change in that aspect. This is another no-brainer, but a nice one nonetheless. With quite a simple story and even simpler characters, it was delightful to watch. I have a thing for chick flicks and this movie is just that. I have not seen the anime or anything so just as a movie, it was a good watch. Rewatch Value 6.0 Paradise Kiss had been in my to-watch list for quite some time and it was a good movie.
